Paulina Almira is a digital illustrator fascinated by retrofuturism and the macabre while harboring a deep love for the earth and natural forms. Her surrealist work displays the romantic tension between them - subjects that are worldly yet unlikely to coexist in real life are infused with an energy that is sensual, slightly odd, and unmistakably feminine. The values of empathy and peaceful coexistence are at the core of her every piece.

“Mermaid Tales”

‘Love is love,’ they said, yet love too is delirium, deceit, and a hatred so malicious, it invariably ends in grisly dismemberment for all parties involved...

“Sticky Gum Rainbows”
Digital

Part of an ongoing series of illustrations featuring gooey, stretched, viscous substances, Sticky Gum Rainbows stands out within the artist’s own unique genre of surrealist botanical art. Two oddly-shaped flowers are ensnared in a vivid pink and green trap amidst an unstable landscape. The one above appears to be mid-fall, its curved form mimicking that of
a body dropped from a significant height. Also considering their eyeballs as evident clues, one can reasonably assume these floral figures are sentient.
